I have an application divided in 2 parts, the auth part is protected by tomcat and any unauthenticated access is redirected to the home page with the authentication form.
But a direct call to j_security_check by submiting login/password on the homepage without having asked a page in the auth part gives me a http error 400.

Is there a way to call j_security_check so that submiting login/password brings to a default page in the auth part of the site ?

If not, what should my own servlet do to manually authenticate the user ?

Thanx
