i am planning to develop a J2ME application for Compaq iPaq using IBM's websphere studio device developer. i just installed version 5. the ipaq uses windowsCE. am i proceeding in the right direction? if not then what else can i do..the application needs to handle graphic files and also has to connect to a servlet in a web server. also which one do i use cldc/midp ? i am new to java itself ..leave alone j2me.. any helpful pointer is highly appreciated.

i dont think Compaq iPaq supports J2ME right now..

as far as your app scope is concerned, if at all you can get KVM on the device, it should not be a problem... PDAs can support much higher profiles that MIDP..

the key question here is getting KVM support... i know some PDAs, which supports Java now... but unfortunately, Compaq is not in the list.. you can refer to www.insignia.com to get an idea of which device manufacturars have started the java support on CE..
