How exactly PreparedStatement(s) are stored into database side as in many references itÂ’s written they are stored into database side as stored procedure? What is the mechanism? Is there any overhead to connection? If the program closes the connection will the same statement will recompile again with fresh connection? I guess PreparedStatement(s) are bound to connection life, is this true?

What care should be taken to get the maximum result regarding handling connection? Any reference/link to good documentation will be most helpful.

Thanks in advance!

A PreparedStatement is only going to be cached in memory by the JDBC client software, while it is running, on the client side (wherever the Java code is that is making JDBC calls).
