Indexing a password protected site

How can I use Lucene to index a password protected site that uses htaccess? I have a userid/password, just not sure how to use it to log in then index the site.

Lucene is not a web crawler, so you'll have to figure out how to fetch the web page yourself. You may want to look at Jakarta Commons HttpClient project.
