What's the right way to access servlet initialization parameters from a soap provider class?

I'm using apache soap with tomcat 4.1. I have the following in my apache soap deployment descriptor:

scope="Application"
methods="processMessage">

static="false"/>

I need to access some information to initialize a connection pool, and I think the right place to put it is in the soap/web application web.xml file, as init-params.

Is there a way to access these init parameters from my SoapInterface class?

Thanks...
