Hi,
Even we are using JavaMail for messaging earlier in our project. We have tried with other 3rd party softwares like ASPMail and SQLMail for the same.
MDB has its own addons if we think of Application Servers like Weblogic and making use of Facade Design pattern for asynchronous communication.
I guess reading more on MDB will surely help in this case.

If I understand your Q correctly then I think you are confused about the understanding of Message Driven Beans.
If you frame your Q more descriptively then I think something can be said.
