Can we write a small code to determine that a particular Object has no longer reference.

Which object would that be? One that you know about, otherwise how would you check, but if you know about an object, then it obviously has a reference!

I don't know what you're doing, but look into java.lang.ref if you think you want finer control over the whys and wherefores of garbage collection.
