From time to time a server I need to connect to via SSL are slack in getting their certificates updated. Instead of preventing the user from using the service, is there any way I can disable this check, say for a week, while the site gets their stuff in order?

(A lot of other clients appear to do the same thing, allowing a user to connect and still have a secure session despite the expired certificate.)

if you use java.security.cert.X509Certificate,
you can check the cert by using checkValidity() or
checkValidity(Date date)
