Is there a way of retrieving video files from a particular directory and then creating thumbnails/image files based on certain frames?

Hi,
I am looking for a java program which can make thumbnails(good looking) of any imges like gif, jpeg, pst, tiff, ong etc.., Is there any good source of java programs, be it a commercial one availble in market
