Is there a way to obtain a connection to a remote database server (assuming the client has the authority via a password) instead of a database existing in the server. Primarilly i'd like to execute a CREATE DATABASE statement through JDBC. It would also be handy to obtain a list of the existing databases running on the server.

A part of what i'm actually trying to do, is create a database from scratch on a specified MySQL server using metadata info and data obtained from a proper XML file. These refer on a client-server type app!

Thanks in advance!
