What is the best way to call SSH commands though Java technologies?

I'm working on Red Hat Linux 7.3. I would like to connect with other Linux Machine with this Secure Shell Version: SSH Secure Shell 3.2.0 . I know about MindTerm Appgate Applet but It's too complex and I don't have time to understand this code. I would like to implement in my JApplet a simle conection like this: ssh -l username host

and transfer file with SCP...
Is it possible?
Please Help me!!

use runtime.exec() to invoke ssh and scp.
