How to change the log level String?

In log4j, the log level is defined in Priority(prior to 1.2) or Level(later edition). They're "INFO", "DEBUG", "WARN", "ERROR" and "FATAL". If I need to change these strings to different ones, how can I do that?

AFAIK you can´t (without changing Log4J-implementation - org.apache.log4j.Level, I think). But why you should?
