Hi, I would like to start writing my own applets for java card but only have jcwde to test them with i.e. I need to write a .app file to assign RID&PIX to applets to run in jcwde waiting for apdu's sent from apdu tool (displaying limited knowledge). Is there a definitive method for assigning PIX from name of applet or is it at my descretion. I assume to use sun's RID (any potential problems with this?). From what I understand it will be at my discretion as jcwde is just waiting for RID&PIX in apdu header as applet identifier which can be specified from apdu script file.

P.S. Please be gentle. I am new and subservient...

For developing/test you can use any AID you'd want. But if you intend on deploying the applet, your company needs to apply for the RID from ISO. This prevents conflicts that could arrise with the same RIDs being used.

Unless you are Sun, then don't use their RID !
Just a side note, the RID doesn't have to do with the JCWDE, it's what's in your CAP file.
