What do you mean by "immutable image"? Immutable in the sense of a "final" or "constant" object ref inside a Java application, i.e. a "String" vs. a "StringBuffer"? Or immutable in the sense of a file that is not editable somehow? Protecting ("readonly") a file in the local filesystem? Digitally signing with hash of the content to detect any alteration? Converting from an object representation to a raster bitmap (not editable in the same way as the objects in a PNG, but still editable by a bitmap "paint" app).
