is there any limitation in image-size in a web browser?

i want know this, because i am painting really big images and have to
display them in a web browser. the image sizes vary from 100x120 pixels
up to 80.000x500 pixels. now when i want to display a image with lets
say 60000px the browser does not display the picture and i do not know
why. it is not loaded into the browser. although the map which i use with
this image woreks and has the links in the rigth places (i suppose this,
because the image itself is not visible).

I don´t think that there is a limit for picture size. But you should think about your picture size. 80.000x500 pixels = 40.000.000 pixel = 40 MB (maybe with compression 2-10 MB). Only for one picture? I - for my person - wouldn´t load that (and I have very big flatrate...).
