Hello,

I am getting more and more interested into JAVA.

I have downloaded J2EE on sun site as it is the most complete apparently.

My question is the following: Are they all free? I was thinking I have to pay a expensive license to be able to develop on top of J2EE and most importantly - sale my applications based on those propriatory technologies.

Can anyone enlight me on this?

thanks!

The are free to use (except for militaristic targets or to pilot nuclear plants), but not licensed to distribute. You should read carefully the licence that Sun includes with these tools.

There is no problem to sell your application if you do not include these tools in your package.

There are commercial Java compilers / interpreters etc available but the reference ones (as found on the Sun' site) are free.

Regards.
