How do I read a file from a remote computer that i have access to?

How would you read the file, if you were using other tools and not writing Java code? that should give you a hint as to what Java tools to use.



HTTP? FTP? SCP? NFS? CIFS/SMB/Samba ("UNC path", or "network drive mapping")? Telnet, with screen scraping? Kermit? Palm HotSync? Sneaker-net floppy disks?
