I tried a application use DB2 jdbc driver to access data ,

when the driver is in system environment classpath ,it dosen't work.

I copy the classpath into user environment ,it works well.

So what is different between the "user" and "system"?

You may have set your classpath like this:

$ CLASSPATH=db2jdbc.jar

Instead, you have to do:

$ export CLASSPATH=db2jdbc.jar

Hope that helps,

System environment variables are specific to the system and are hence across all users, while user environment variables are applicable to the user only.

On my system the classpath is set as a system environment variable and that works with JDBC drivers like Oracle and MySQL.
