Here is an interesting one I came accross in my travels:

Qualification for subscription is interest in WAP technology and using JSP and Servlets to build WAP applications, so contains people from many different companies and also individuals.

Subscribe: send mail an email to (danny.coward@eng.sun.com) with 'subscribe wap-servlet-external@eng.sun.com' in the subject from the email address you are getting the mailing list sent to.
