# Can we precompile all the JSP files in JRun?

Serge Knystautas

Yes you can using a utility included in JRun and Tomcat called "jspc". This will compile your JSPs into servlets and build a set of web.xml entries to map each of these servlets to the original URI. For instance, /examples/index.jsp would get compiled to a servlet called ExampleIndex and then the web.xml entry would map /examples/index.jsp to the ExampleIndex servlet. The naming convention will obviously be different to properly handle all possible URIs. Both JRun (3.0+) and Tomcat (4.0+) include solid documentation on how to use jspc.
