What is the JCert Initiative?

The jCert Initiative is a multi-vendor collaboration to establish standards for knowledge and skill levels for enterprise developers in the Java technology.

The Initiative recognizes 3 levels of certification requiring 5 exams. At each skill level, a certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully pass the required exams in that level.

The required certifications are as follows:

Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform
Skill 1: Exam #1Z0-501 Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform

Oracle Certified Solution Developer - JDeveloper
Skill 2a : Exam #1Z0-513 Object Oriented Analysis and Design with UML

Skill 2b : Exam #1Z0-502 Oracle JDeveloper: Develop Database Applications with Java (Oracle JDeveloper Rel. 2)

Skill 2b : Exam #1Z0-512 Oracle JDeveloper: Develop Database Applications with Java (Oracle JDeveloper Rel. 3)

Oracle Certified Enterprise Developer
Skill 3a : Exam #1Z0-504: Enterprise Connectivity with J2EE

Skill 3b: Exam #1Z0-505 Enterprise Development on the Oracle Internet Platform

The cost for each exam is as follows:

1Z0-501 = US$150
1Z0-502, 1Z0-504, 1Z0-512 & 1Z0-505 = US$125
1Z0-513 = $175

All exams will be available through Prometric testing centers worldwide. For local pricing, contact your Prometric Customer Service Representative, and always refer to the test title AND test number.
