What are differences between JSP 1.0 and JSP 0.91?

Serge Knystautas

Probably 98% of the code you will have to change will focus on class level code and page declarations (details provided below). JSP 1.0 also requires the Servlet 2.1 spec which adds functionality over the Servlet 2.0 release including the RequestDispatcher, which allows for dynamic includes and forwards within the servlet engine.

Class level code

<script runat="server">
public void myMethod() {
}

public int myField;
</script>
became
<%!
public void myMethod() {
}

public int myField;
%<

Page directives

<%@ extends="MyServlet" %>
became
<%@ page extends="MyServlet" %>

This affects extends, content type, and import. New page directives include buffer. Page directives that are no longer supported include implements.
