What is Jikes?

Alex Chaffee

Jikes is an open-source Java compiler from IBM Alphaworks. It compiles from Java source code (.java) to Java bytecode (.class) just like Sun's javac. It is a native program, so it's really fast. It's available for many platforms, including Windows and Unix (Linux).

Read the Jikes FAQ for more information.
