What is the difference between Jini and JavaSpaces?

George McKinney

JavaSpaces is built on top of Jini. It is, to quote "JavaSpaces Principles, Patterns, and Practice", a "... shared, network-accessible repository for objects." Jini provides a framework for distributed services, and JavaSpaces provides a framework for distributed storage of the objects that Jini (or other, non-Jini) services produce or use.
