What is HotSpot?

John Zukowski

HotSpot is a replacement implementation of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that you can think of as a next generation JIT compiler. It monitors code as it is being executed and performs speed optimizations on the frequently executed code. You can learn more about HotSpot from http://java.sun.com/products/hotspot/.
